Letter to Our Future Child
Dear little one,
We don’t know your name yet. We don’t know what your laugh will sound like, what foods you’ll love, or what stories you’ll ask us to read again and again before bed... but we do know this one thing: we have been waiting for you and before you come into our lives, we wanted to share a little about the home that will be waiting for you.
Your dad Dave grew up in Queens in a family that believes deeply in showing up for one another. His parents have been together for more than fifty years, and the love they’ve built together is something we both admire so much. A love they want nothing more than to share with you, their future grandchild.
He oversees benefits for a large international company, helping people navigate important moments in their lives. His compassion and empathy spill into his work every day, because he genuinely cares about people and wants to make things easier for them when they need the most support. Outside of work he loves running, comics, listening to podcasts, trying new foods (especially spicy ones), studying for jeopardy, and saying yes to new experiences. He values his friendships deeply and has a way of making people feel secure just by being himself.
Together, we balance each other in the best ways. Dave brings steadiness and calm. Mike brings creativity and spontaneity. Somewhere between those two things is a life filled with laughter, curiosity, and a lot of dancing around the kitchen. Our home is also already full of the love of family. We have three nieces who mean the world to us, and we have always tried to be there for them in every way we can. Over the past couple of years, one of them has been living with us. She’s eight now, almost nine, and she is one of the funniest, smartest, sassiest kids we know. She does gymnastics and dance, has a lot of friends, and keeps us laughing every single day. We love her so much and are incredibly proud of the person she is becoming. She is also very excited about the idea of having a younger cousin someday and talks all the time about how she will help take care of you.
What we want most is to create a home where you feel safe, supported, and completely loved. A home where you can ask questions, try new things, make mistakes, and grow into exactly the person you are meant to be.
With Love to the Parent Considering Us
Your dad Mike grew up in Brooklyn in a big Puerto Rican family. His mom worked incredibly hard, often juggling two jobs to raise him and his older sister. Those early years shaped who he is today… someone who feels with all his heart. Always paying attention to how others feel… always trying to make someone’s day a little bit easier.
He was the first in his family to graduate from college and spent ten years working as an architect before deciding to follow his heart and become a teacher. For almost a decade now he has been helping young people learn and grow, and he brings the same empathy and encouragement into the classroom that he brings into every part of life.
Mike also loves to draw and has illustrated three children’s books and is now working on one that he is both writing and illustrating himself. A story about mixed families and the many ways people come together to create love and belonging. The inspiration for that story is YOU!!! We both dream about the day we will finally tuck you into bed and read it to you.

Our names are Mike and Dave. We’ve been together for fifteen years and married for ten, building a life full of love, laughter, creativity, and the support of our close family and friends. Becoming parents has been a dream we’ve shared for many years.
