Hi, I’m Mike.
I'm someone who leads with creativity, warmth, and a strong sense of home. Whether I'm designing a space, working on a DIY project, illustrating a story, or spending time in the garden, I love creating things that bring people together. Today, I'm a high school special education teacher, where I have the privilege of helping students build confidence and discover what they're capable of. At the center of everything I do is family, connection, and creating a home where people feel loved, supported, and encouraged to be themselves.
Growing Up
I grew up in Brooklyn in a close-knit single-parent household, where I learned the importance of resilience, kindness, and appreciating the people who show up for you. My family always made me feel loved, and those experiences shaped the way I hope to love and support a child one day. From an early age, I was always creating, whether I was drawing, building, designing, or finding new ways to make something ordinary feel special. That creative spark has stayed with me throughout my life and continues to shape who I am today.

Finding My Way
As I got older, my love of creativity naturally led me into architecture and design, where I spent nearly a decade creating spaces that were both functional and welcoming. Eventually, I discovered another passion in education and became a high school special education math teacher. Helping students believe in themselves and celebrating their successes has become one of the most rewarding parts of my life. Outside of work, I'm happiest tackling DIY projects, building Lego sets, working in the garden, illustrating children's books, or simply finding new ways to make our home feel warm and inviting.

Life Today
Today, my life revolves around the home Dave and I have built together and the people we love most. We enjoy hosting family dinners, celebrating birthdays and holidays, working on projects around the house, and creating traditions that bring everyone together. I especially love spending time with our nieces, whether we're exploring New York City, gardening, visiting museums, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon at home. Those everyday moments are the ones I treasure most, and they're the moments I'm most excited to share with a child.

Looking Ahead
Becoming a parent is something I’ve wanted for a long time. Growing up the way I did, I understand how important it is for a child to feel supported, secure, and truly seen. I want to create a home where a child feels safe to be themselves, encouraged to grow, and surrounded by love every single day. I’m incredibly grateful for the life Dave and I have built together. We balance each other in a way that makes our home feel steady, warm, and full of care, and I can’t wait for the day we get to share that with a child.
